Hey, I'm Lindsey Lerner.

I’m a photographer and documentarian.

My primary work is Field Notes from the Work (and the Wild), an ongoing art practice documenting the moments before work is seen — the rituals, decisions, and quiet labor that shape how people live and create.

Alongside this work, I collaborate selectively with individuals and organizations through Field Notes to clarify language, reflect culture, and support meaningful transitions.

I live in New York City with my wife and daughters.

Field Notes from the Work (and the Wild)

Field Notes from the Work (and the Wild) is my ongoing documentary art practice and cultural memory bank.

I’m a photographer and documentarian. I make portraits, audio stories, and short reflections that track how people work, create, and become — usually before anyone’s paying attention.

I’m interested in process. In the moments that pass too quickly to be named. The routines, hesitations, and quiet decisions that shape people long before the work is recognized.

Over time, Field Notes becomes a living archive of lived experience, craft, and quiet labor — holding the parts of our work and lives that rarely make it into the record, but shape everything that follows.

I helped build Generalist World from the ground up—a global community for people who don’t fit into neat boxes. I co-created Unboxed, a course that helped generalists name what they’re great at, own it, and use it to make bold moves.

We supported 100K+ folks figuring out what’s next and how to do work that actually fits.

Unboxed is now available, and the Generalist World community is still growing. You can join it here if you’re looking for your people.

Brought on to lead early community strategy, including the design and execution of Fabrik’s founding member cohort in Tribeca. As the company grew, supported product development and storytelling—shaping brand voice, messaging frameworks, and content across product, onboarding, and investor materials. Worked closely with product and engineering teams to ground design decisions in real user behavior and lived experience.

Speaking

I speak about the moments we’re taught to ignore — the quiet work that shapes us long before the outcome shows up.

On stage, I blend story, photography, and lived experience to help people notice what they’ve been carrying, name what’s been forming beneath the surface, and trust what’s already in motion.

This work lives where art and business meet real life. It’s for people navigating change, outgrowing old rooms, and learning how to move without forcing what’s next.

I speak with teams, leaders, creatives, and communities who want space to slow down, get honest, and move forward with clarity.
